Respected Sir,

Sub: - Listing of Banks for acceptance of address proof for Passport.
Ref: - No. VI/401/1/12/2013, GOI, Ministry of External Affairs, CPV Division dated           31-12-2013.

We beg to draw your kind attention to the fact that RRBs are functioning throughout the country with a branch network of more than 19000. Customer base of these banks consists of more than 15 crores, many of them have diverse economic and social activities requiring foreign trip. All the existing 56 RRBs are now functioning with modern technology on CBS platform like any other Public Sector Bank in India.

It is surprising Sir, that only 26 PSBs have been listed for acceptance of address proof for passports, though many of such PSBs have much less number of customer base due to their limited size and coverage, whereas RRBs have not been included even though collectively they have much wider coverage and bigger customer base.

Sir, it has other dimension too. General public may take a wrong message about the status of RRB, with a question mark whether the RRBs fall within Public Sector or otherwise.

Under the above context we would request you Sir, to see that bank customers who are having their accounts with RRBs are not excluded for the purpose stated above and to this end, RRBs also may kindly be included in the list so that there is no occasion of any doubt about the public sector status of the RRBs amongst the banking customers.

With regards
Yours faithfully
