Sub: - Release of a handbook on GRATUITY, by RG Nargund & H Nagabhushana Rao.

It may please be recalled that we organized the National Seminar on 05-04-2014 at Kolkata to pay homage to our beloved Dada and to commemorate his first death anniversary.

Sri P Sainath, the Eminent Journalist was the main speaker.

On this occasion the above mentioned book on Gratuity was released by Sri P Sainath with applause to the writers Com RG Nargund, former President, All Karnataka Gramin Bank Employees’ Federation and Com H Nagabhushana Rao, President, National Federation of RRB Employees who are well known for their contribution to the struggles of RRB employees under the banner of the AIRRBEA.

The preface/foreword of this book has been written by Com C Rajeevan, President AIRRBEA.

On perusal of the book the readers will find that the writers have taken pains to study the entire background of introduction of Gratuity as superannuation benefit and correctly interpreted the difference and commonality vis-a-vis better/higher amount of entitlement of gratuity with correct interpretation under the provisions of law in favour of the workers and employees. This may appear to be an overstatement to those who are stuck up with mental block of interpreting the relevant clauses/regulations/sections of the Staff Service Regulations or the provisions of Gratuity Act, 1972 according to their traditional thinking and limited exposure to provisions of law.

We therefore find the book very useful for those who are dealing the subject in the trade union platform as also on the table of the management.
